A total of 51 youths have graduated from Uganda Breweries Limited (UBL)’s Learning for Life program, a partnership with Tooro Kingdom, Enterprise Uganda, and EXP Uganda. The program equips young people with business and hospitality skills to increase their chances of finding employment in the hospitality industry and improving their livelihoods.

Suleiman Ngondi, Uganda Breweries Sustainability & Communications Manager, emphasized the need for interventions like the Learning for Life program to address unemployment and income inequality in Uganda.

“Unemployment causes a social burden where a high number of unemployed youths could lead to a high crime rate in society and unwanted pregnancies,” he said.

“At UBL, we strive to equip youth with marketable job skills and experience that will give them an advantage and increase their chances to secure employment or start their own jobs,” – Ngondi said.

The Tooro Kingdom Deputy Prime Minister, Harriet Nyakake, commended UBL and its partners for their role in empowering youth.

She encouraged the graduands to remain open-minded, seek out skilling opportunities, and continuously invest in their personal and professional development to become specialists in their respective hospitality fields.

“Never stop learning because graduation is not the end of your learning journey; it is only the beginning,” – Nyakake noted.

UBL’s Learning for Life program aims to equip youth with marketable job skills and experience, increasing their chances of securing employment or starting their own businesses.

The program is part of UBL’s Society 2030 sustainability action plan, which aims to create a sustainable and inclusive world by 2030.

UBL is committed to inclusion and diversity, ensuring that 50% of beneficiaries from its community programs are women and empowering underrepresented groups in various communities.
