President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni on Friday hosted the President of the Federal Republic of Somalia, H.E. Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, at State Lodge Nakasero during an official visit that reaffirms the enduring brotherhood between Uganda and Somalia.
President Museveni, in a post shared on his official social media account, expressed his pleasure at welcoming President Mohamud, noting that the two leaders engaged in discussions on key regional issues.

“Today, I was pleased to host H.E. Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, the President of the Federal Republic of Somalia, who is here on an official visit. We discussed issues pertaining to the region. I welcome him,” President Museveni posted on X (formerly Twitter).
The high-level visit highlights the shared commitment of both nations to strengthening cooperation, particularly in the areas of security, trade, regional stability, and socio-economic development.

Uganda and Somalia have long-standing diplomatic and military ties, with Uganda being among the first African Union member states to contribute troops to the African Union Transition Mission in Somalia (ATMIS), previously AMISOM, to support peace and security efforts in the Horn of Africa nation.
The leaders’ meeting comes at a crucial time as both countries continue to work closely on regional peace initiatives, counter-terrorism efforts, and enhancing economic collaboration.
