The outgoing Deputy Director of Defence Public Information, Colonel Deo Akiiki, has officially handed over office to his successor, Major Bilal Katamba.
Col Akiiki, recently appointed as Military Assistant to the Chief of Defence Forces, Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba, was commended for his leadership and innovation during his tenure.
Presiding over the handover at the Ministry of Defence and Veteran Affairs Headquarters in Mbuya, Major General Felix Kulayigye, Director of Defence Public Information, emphasised the role of teamwork and creativity in driving progress.
“As a leader, you allow people to think both within and outside the box. That’s how people grow; that’s how departments grow,” he stated.
He praised Col Akiiki for his dedicated service, noting that he had effectively executed his duties and consistently demonstrated innovation.
Col Akiiki expressed gratitude to both civilian and military staff for their support during his 22 years in the department.
In his acceptance speech, Maj Bilal Katamba acknowledged the guidance of Maj Gen Kulayigye and thanked Col Akiiki for his mentorship.
The event was attended by staff from the Defence Public Information department.
