The missing boy, son to Masiga Anthony a clearing agent at Katuna border and resident of Mayengo cell in Katuna town council was reported missing on Thursday evening at around 7pm.

According to a witness, the missing boy had been playing with his peers when an unidentified man took off with him.

In a statement released on Friday, Elly Matte, the Police Spokesperson for Kigezi Region said that an unknown man approached the boy and handed him Shs 3,000. He then asked the boy to move with him and that he would buy him gum boots.

The boy took the money before they proceeded to the shops. However, the young boy has not been seen since yesterday evening.

“The first shop had no gum boots, When the boy came out, the man had a bicycle and asked the boy to get on the bicycle so they could go through other shops. Since then, the boy hasnt been seen,” Elly Matte said.

One of the boys told authorities that he is capable of identifying the said man as he had seen his face before.

“It is very unfortunate. We don’t know whether this man is known to this child or whether he has ill intentions against the kid,” he added.

He cautioned the public to be vigilant especially at a time when cases of kidnap have become frequent across the country. In recent weeks, Police has registered numerous incidents of missing persons, some of whom have later been discovered murdered.
