On Wednesday August 2, 2017, a convoy headed from Nimule to Juba fell in a deadly ambush of what South Sudanese security officials described as being orchestrated by unknown gunmen.
The ambush took place between Kerepi and Moli 55km along Nimule-Juba highway.
At least five people are confirmed to have been shot dead and an unspecified number of people also sustained bullet wounds.
Five bodies of the deceased persons, all males are lying in Nimule hospital mortuary. Four bodies have so far been identified as of South Sudanese nationals.
However there are queries about the fifth body being described as Ugandan or, of any nationality from the East African region.
A Ugandan national by the names Ochia Rafah, 22, Aringa by tribe from Yumbe district, who was travelling to Juba in a Nissan Patrol car SSD 450S white in colour was confirmed shot dead in the same incident.
Her body was received under Elegu Police Station SD/Ref.18/02/08/2017 enroute for decent burial in Yumbe district.
The Ugandan registered passenger bus caught up in the incident is a Gold line bus reg no.UAS 442B.
One person whose identities could not be readily established sustained bullet wounds.
No Ugandan has been identified yet among the injured admitted to Nimule hospital.
