5 Dead, 8 Injured in Kyegegwa Accident

Five people have been confirmed dead and eight others seriously injured in a car accident that occurred Thursday morning in Kyegegwa district.

ASP Nampiima Faridah, the PRO Traffic Police, said the accident happened at around 9am and involved a motor vehicle Reg No UBK077S Toyota Hiace (drone).

The accident happened at Kyasitiri along the Kyenjojo-Kyegegwa Highway.

The five deceased persons have been identified as; Byamukama Hebert aged 46 years, Katusabe Consolata aged 47 years and a male juvenile only identified as Agondeze (all residents of Kyaduri Kyenjojo District) and two unidentified male adults.

The injured are; Nabagereka (59), a resident of Hesi Bunyangabo District, Asaba Bibohere (44), a resident of   Kyarusozi Kyenjojo District, Katesigwa Noah (45), a resident of   Kyaduri Kyenjojo District,  Wabaire Sam (32), a resident of   Rweza Makindye Sssbsgabo, Junior Samuel (20), a resident of   Mugusu Bunyangabo District, Atuhaire Fatuma  (32), a resident of   Mabira Kyaduri Kyenjojo District, Kemigabo Juliet (27), a resident of   Kicucu Bunyangabo District.

They were all rushed to Mubende referral Hospital for further Management.

The bodies of the deceased were conveyed to Kyegegwa Hospital mortuary for post-mortem.

Police attributed the accident to a tyre burst.
