Zaake Saga: NUP Drops Ojara Mapenduzi from Chairmanship of PAC- Local Gov’t

The Leader of Opposition, Mathias Mpuuga has relieved Hon Ojara Mapenduzi from his position as the Chairperson of the Public Accounts Committee – Local Government (PAC-Local Government).

“Gilbert Olanya is taking over from Hon Martin Ojara Mapenduzi. PAC – Local Government is one of the 4 Accountability Committees led by the Opposition,” Mpuuga announced.

Mpuuga also named Nakimuli Helen and Kalungu East MP Francis Katabaazi as the new Shadow Ministers for Fisheries and EAC Affairs respectively.

Nakimuli replaces Tebandeke Charles while Katabaazi will replace Hon Olanya, who has been redeployed as Chairperson of PAC – Local Government.

Mapenduzi who is the Gulu City West MP, clashed with the NUP leadership when he introduced a motion that removed fellow legislator, Francis Butebi Zaake from his position on the Parliamentary Commission.

Mapenduzi accused Zaake of degrading the house by insulting then Deputy Speaker Anitah Among on social media, which led to his censure from the Parliamentary Commission.
