The Executive Director of Oxfam, Winnie Byanyima who is also wife to Uganda’s long time opposition leader, Dr Kizza Besigye has Saturday held a thanksgiving ceremony to mark 60 years of age.

She together with her husband, Besigye and family hosted guests in Ruti near Mbarara town, the home of her late father, Boniface Byanyima.

Winnie said in her speech that she was thankful for the love that the people of Mbarara as well as Ugandans have showed her over the years since the time when she was a legislator representing Mbarara municipality.

The professional aeronautical engineer, politician and diplomat also expressed gratitude to the positions of leadership that God has enabled her to hold including those at the international level.

Saturday’s thanksgiving was attended by the clergy, leaders in Mbarara district, politicians, family friends and local residents.
