Kampala — Watoto Church has assured the public of a safe, well-organised and family-friendly Christmas Cantata 2025, as final preparations intensify ahead of one of Uganda’s largest annual festive celebrations.

Speaking during a press briefing held at Old Kampala SS Grounds, Pastor Julius Rwotlonyo, the Senior Pastor and Team Leader at Watoto Church Ministries, said the church has partnered with the Uganda Police Force and city authorities to strengthen security, traffic management and public order during the five-day event.

The 2025 Christmas Cantata will be held at Old Kampala Senior Secondary School, a venue selected for its space, accessibility and suitability to safely host large crowds.

Activities will kick off on December 17, 2025, with the Inter-Church Carols Night and the lighting of Uganda’s tallest Christmas tree, followed by the “Son of God” Cantata production running from December 19 to 22.

Entry to all events is free, with gates opening at 2:00 pm and performances starting at 8:00 pm.

Watoto Church cautioned the public to remain vigilant and warned against fraudsters. “As Watoto Church, our events are always free. We don’t charge for any event, so be vigilant and let no one sell you a ticket or a ‘special pass’ to our Christmas Cantata,” Pastor Rwotlonyo emphasised.

The Uganda Police Force welcomed the partnership and confirmed its readiness to provide comprehensive security throughout the event period. Police support will include patrols, traffic officers, crowd-control teams and emergency response units.

“We are committed to working with Watoto Church to ensure that all events are secure and peaceful. Our teams will be on the ground throughout the Cantata to provide safety, guide traffic and support the public wherever needed,” said Luke Owoyesigyire, the Public Relations Officer for Kampala Metropolitan Police Area.

We believe this partnership will make it easier for people to enjoy the celebrations without worrying about transport,” said Mukooli Calvin, Brand, Events and Activations at SafeBoda.

“We’re providing UGX 50 million in-kind services for the five-day event. Our medical staff will be on site daily for blood pressure checks, general first aid, and health consultations, and we’ll also offer discounted healthcare plans and wellness vouchers,” said Andy Kristian Agaba, representing Karis Medical.

Andy Kristian Agaba, the Chief Executive Officerof  Karis Medical, during his speech.

Watoto Church said the Cantata will bring together churches, artists and families from across the country to celebrate the birth of Jesus through music and worship.

“Many things divide us, but Jesus unites us. This Cantata is going to be beautiful—it’s bringing together different churches and artists to sing Christmas carols and celebrate the birth of Jesus,” Pastor Rwotlonyo added.

With thousands expected to attend, Watoto Church reaffirmed its commitment to safety, order and hospitality, assuring the public that Christmas Cantata 2025 will be a memorable and uplifting experience for all.
