Vivo Energy Uganda, the marketer and distributor of Shell fuels and lubricants has announced it’s continued support for the CoRSU Walk 2025, with a pledge of 10 million Ugandan shillings in sponsorship.

For the second year in a row, Vivo Energy will endorse the annual CoRSU Walk, thereby reinforcing its commitment to health, a key pillar of its community investment programme.

The inaugural CoRSU Walk, organised by the Comprehensive Rehabilitation Services in Uganda (CoRSU) Hospital in Kawuku, along Entebbe Road, held in 2024, drew over 1,000 participants and raised over 34 million Uganda shillings, enabling CoRSU to fund about 20 life-changing surgeries for children.

Beyond fundraising, the Walk created significant media and public discourse on disability, especially its effects on children, and expanded CoRSU’s physiotherapy and rehabilitation reach.

The impact was felt not only in the hospital wards but also in communities where those children returned, walking, recovering, and regaining hope.

Under the theme “Bring hope to children with disability,” the 2025 CoRSU Walk, aims at raising 400 million Ugandan shillings to fund surgeries for up to 300 children, procure critical theatre equipment, renovate the Outpatients Department (OPD) building, and strengthen rehabilitation and therapy capacity.

“Vivo Energy is proud to partner with CoRSU once again for this important initiative,” said Joanita Mukasa Menya, Managing Director of Vivo Energy Uganda.

She added: “Health is at the heart of our community investment programme and enabling children to reclaim mobility and independence aligns deeply with our purpose. This sponsorship is not just about donating a cheque; it is a symbol of our commitment to transforming lives.”

Valery Okecho, Corporate Communications Manager at Vivo Energy Uganda, added, “Vivo Energy is proud to support the second edition of the CoRSU Walk. With every stride, we bridge the gap between despair and possibility as an expression of our dedication to the wellbeing of our communities.

We call upon like-minded corporate partners and Ugandans of goodwill to support this important initiative empowering children with disabilities to lead fuller lives.”

Robert Ochai, the CEO of CoRSU Hospital, noted, “Since its founding in 2006, CoRSU Hospital has stood on the belief that disability must never mean inability.

That belief has shaped every decision we have made and every service we have offered. In just over a decade, we have carried out more than 70,000 life-changing surgeries for children and rehabilitated over 100,000 patients.”

The CoRSU Walk will take place on Sunday, October 5, 2025, starting and ending at the MUBS Main Playground.

The flag-off is set for 6 am. All members of the public are welcome to participate, with a choice to walk either the 5-kilometre or 10-kilometre route around Nakawa, Naguru, and Lugogo, finishing back at MUBS.

To participate, members of the public can purchase CoRSU Walk kits at 30,000 Uganda shillings from CoRSU Hospital in Kawuku or at the MUBS Centre for Disability and Learning in Nakawa.
