Residents of Mpondwe in Kasese district have arrested a suspected Allied Democratic Forces (ADF) rebel following an attack on Lhubiriha secondary school.
Details about the suspect are still unknown.
The residents have handed him over to the police for investigation.
“This guy looks like he is happy to be caught because I think he has been through a lot so let’s wait and see what’s next,” said a resident.
“He was very hungry. We gave him food, he wasn’t chewing. He took a jar of water in a second,” said another resident.
Residents suspect that he is part of the terrorists that Friday night burnt a dormitory, killing 25 students and injuring eight others.
They also abducted several other children who they used to carry food they had looted from the food store.
The rebels escaped towards Virunga National Park.
