Dick Mulima Ssempaka alias Uncle Dick, a renown veteran radio personality has Wednesday morning passed on from St Apollo Hospital, Namasuba.
This happened just a year after his retirement from the Nile Avenue based Uganda Broadcasting Corporation (UBC) where he had served for over 40 years.
According to one of her daughters, Maureen Namubiru, the deceased has for long been battling high blood pressure and diabetes.
Mulima’s body will be taken to UBC gardens for public viewing Wednesday morning, before proceeding to St Apollo Church Of Uganda Namasuba Kikajjo for a funeral service at 4pm.
Thereafter, his body will been taken to Luswa along Mubende Road where burial will take place on Thursday afternoon.
Uncle Dick shot to fame for his popular evening show dubbed ‘Evening Drive’ on Star Radio, UBC’s sister station in which he presented with humour, attracting a huge audience.
He joined radio Uganda in 1968 together with another veteran broadcaster, Al Haj Abdul Nsereko while they were students in secondary school.
The duo was among the over 30 long serving journalists who were retired by UBC in October last year when the company was undergoing a complete restructuring.
