Venezuelan Envoy Seeks Stronger BRICS Ties with Uganda

Her Excellency Fatima Yesenia Fernandez Juarez, Ambassador of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela to the Republic of Uganda, paid a courtesy call on the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs (International Affairs), Hon. Henry Okello Oryem, at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Ambassador Fernandez Juarez conveyed the deep appreciation of the Government of Venezuela for the warm hospitality and friendship extended to her and her delegation by the Government and people of Uganda, particularly since the official opening of the Venezuelan Embassy in Kampala in March 2025.

She emphasised the importance of deepening bilateral relations between Uganda and Venezuela, especially in the context of Uganda’s strategic role as a partner within the BRICS alliance.

In his remarks, Hon. Oryem warmly welcomed the establishment of the Venezuelan Embassy in Kampala, describing it as a landmark step in advancing diplomatic cooperation, trade relations, and cultural exchange between the two nations. He thanked the Venezuelan Government for its commitment to strengthening ties with Uganda.

The meeting concluded with the Minister graciously accepting an invitation to visit the newly inaugurated Venezuelan Embassy in Kampala. He reaffirmed Uganda’s appreciation for Venezuela’s renewed dedication to fostering strong and mutually beneficial collaboration.
