Uganda Wildlife Authority (UWA) has announced a partnership with ‘Sitya Loss’ singer, Eddy Kenzo to promote Uganda’s tourism.
Under the new deal which was made official on Monday, the BET Award winning singer will be an ambassador of tourism and conservation of wildlife.
“Eddy Kenzo has this afternoon met UWA senior managers. We have started a working relationship to promote wildlife conservation,” UWA Communications Manager, Bashir Hangi told SoftPower News on Monday.
UWA also took to their Twitter to unveil the good news. They said it was an exciting moment for them to announce Kenzo as their new representative. They also revealed that Kenzo will unleash to the rest of the world Uganda’s unique wildlife and promote Uganda’s tourism destinations.
An excited Kenzo committed to doing his best to make sure he promotes brand Uganda to the rest of the world.
“It was a pleasure working with Kenya Tourism Board. As you know, East or West, home is best. Today we embark on a new journey as I sign as the Uganda Tourism Ambassador. I will work hand in hand with all the different tourism departments to promote our country and its tourism attractions,” Kenzo said.
Weeks ago, while donating his prestigious BET Award to the Uganda Museum, Kenzo tipped government to leverage musicians to sell Uganda to the rest of the world. At the event, the Uganda Tourism Board (UTB) chief, Steven Asiimwe had pledged that government would partner with Kenzo on top of granting him free access to national parks to shoot his music videos.
This, Asiimwe said would go a long way in showcasing Uganda’s natural heritage.
The Minister of State for Tourism, Godfrey Kiwanda had in 2016 unveiled Eddy Kenzo during the launch of ‘Tulambule’ at Hotel Africana, as a useful partner who would add value to Uganda’s tourism if engaged by the tourism sector. Tulambule (tour Uganda) was intended to promote domestic tourism.
Last year, Kenya’s Tourism Board hired the BET awards winner to drive regional travel to Kenya in a campaign dubbed ‘Tembea Kenya’.
