Uganda Registration Services Bureau (URSB) has issued fresh measures after some of its staff tested positive for Covid-19.
In an internal memo to all staff and top management, Robert Mugabe, the Director of Business Registration, said a number of staff at level one (UBFC) tested positive for Covid-19 despite the previous decline in Covid-19 infection trends countrywide.
“As we continue to offer services to our clients, it has come to our attention that some of our staff at level one (UBFC), have recently tested positive for COVID-19. This is despite the previous decline in COVID-19 infection trends countrywide,” the memo reads.
It further added that in the view of this development and the peculiar nature of the working environment at level one, there may be an urgent need to deploy interventions to curb further spread of the virus.
The memo encouraged the staff to visit the nearest health facilities to ascertain their current Covid-19 health status.
“Internally, as we await management interventions, you are encouraged to visit the nearest health facility and ensure that you ascertain your status to enable you take the necessary measures.”
New measures to be followed at URSB:
All contact between staff and clients on officers’ desk must stop henceforth. In case of need for client-officer interface, the boardroom at level one shall suffice.
Immediately ensure social distancing amongst all staff and use of sanitizers.
Ensure observance of COVID-19 SOPS previously in place at URSB.
The measures were effected on June 1, 2022.
