The Commissioner General of Uganda Revenue Authority (URA), Doris Akol, has hailed the Japanese International Cooperation Agency(JICA), for its development support to the East African region.
Akol was addressing participants in the 8th regional joint coordinating meeting of the project on capacity development for international development now ongoing at Kampala Serena Hotel.
“We appreciate the support you accord to our region in terms of vehicles and motorcycles for surveillance and capacity development for our staff”, said Akol.
Ms Akol further pledged that the Uganda Revenue Authority will continue working with JICA so that the EAC region “flourishes”.
The meeting supported by JICA is intended to review the capacity development of the countries in the East African region.
Ambassador Liberat Mfumkeko, the current EAC Secretary general and the entire EAC secretariat is also represented alongside revenue officials from EAC member states.
This meeting is a precursor to the East African Revenue Authorities Commissioners General (EARACGs) interaction, scheduled for later today.
The EARACGs will tomorrow Friday November 24 address a press conference and issue a joint communiqué
on the events.
