The Uganda Printing and Publishing Corporation (UPPC) on Friday, July 12, 2024, launched its new innovations during the inaugural Stakeholder Engagement Day at Hotel Africana in Kampala.
Themed, “Enhancing Customer Loyalty Through Excellent Service Delivery,” the UPPC Stakeholder Day aimed at enhancing customer satisfaction through gathering valuable feedback and showcasing the corporation’s wide range of products, services and latest innovations.
Some of these include; the GovInfoHub, a digital user-friendly platform by the UPPC that seeks to bridge the information gap between the Government and the public by disseminating crucial and credible information targeted to promote accountability and transparency.
The UPPC service portal is a one-stop centre for all UPPC services including printing, publishing, and gazetting services.
The UPPC online bookshop is where the public can conveniently access all legal and all other UPPC publications.
UPPC is more environmentally conscious than how the corporation prints. There is active involvement in a number of programs that support environmental sustainability through adopting the best Environmental, Social and Governance practices.
The Chief Guest, Prime Minister Rt. Hon. Robinah Nabbanja, emphasized the significance of customer-centric service delivery.
“In today’s competitive market, open dialogues amongst stakeholders is crucial. UPPC’s commitment to understanding and meeting customer needs sets a benchmark for excellence in our public services,” she said in a speech read for her.
She added: “The Corporation has been at the forefront in advancing Uganda’s Vision 2040 objectives by ensuring the creation of jobs along the value chains of production, processing and marketing. More still, UPPC’s efforts in promoting local industrialization through supporting domestic production for all printing and publishing needs not only boosts local capacity but also advances the Buy Uganda Build Uganda Presidential agenda.”
In line with Uganda’s digital transformation roadmap, Hon. Milly Babalanda, commended the corporation for their recent ICT innovations that respond to the recently launched UPPC strategic plan that targets to digitize 80% of the corporation services by 2026.
In a speech read for her, Babalanda further highlighted the recapitalization strides by UPPC quoting the acquisition of state-of-the-art technology which has bolstered its production capacity and reduced the turnaround time.
In his speech, Joachim Buwembo, the UPPC Board Chairman, noted that the dedication to driving innovation is further exemplified by the development of the e-gazette and e-services, aligning with the national digitization roadmap launched last year by the government.
“By 2026, we aim to digitize 80% of our products and services offerings, making our services more accessible and efficient for all our stakeholders worldwide. As pioneers of the printing and publishing industry, this digital transformation is not just about keeping up with technological advancements but about setting the pace for the future of printing and publishing in Uganda,” he noted.
According to the Managing Director, Prof. Sudi Nangoli, UPPC aims to deliver exceptional printing and publishing services to Ministries, Departments, Agencies and the private sector.
“The goal is to provide top-notch solutions that exceed expectations,” she stated.
Robert K. Ssebunya, the Head Office of the Prime Minister (OPM) Delivery Unit, applauded UPPC’s efforts in promoting local industrialization through supporting domestic production for all printing and publishing needs which only boosts local capacity but further advances the BUBU agenda.
Hajji. Sadat Kisuyi, who represented the Minister for Presidency, commended the corporation for their recent ICT innovations that respond to the recently launched UPPC strategic plan which targets to digitize 80% of the corporation services by 2026.
Rodgers Mawanda, the Sales and Marketing Manager at UPPC, said they are committed to providing quality, secure printing and publishing services to the public in an efficient manner.
On her part, Rebecca Nyakairu, the Public & Corporate Affairs Manager, said UPPC will commit towards digitalisation to achieve 100% customer satisfaction and efficiency.
“We recognize that our stakeholder’s engagement is not just about physical interactions, but also about creating a digital presence that is accessible and engaging.”
