On July 26, 2024, the National Enterprise Corporation (NEC), through its subsidiary NEC Construction Works and Engineering Ltd (NEC Works), officially handed over the renovated Lumumba Hall to Makerere University’s Vice Chancellor, Prof. Barnabas Nawangwe.

Prof. Nawangwe commended NEC for their professional work and encouraged them to continue demonstrating discipline and integrity in their projects.

He praised NEC for their exceptional work ethic, noting that unlike other contractors, they had not requested variations in the scope of work and had not caused any undue stress.

Prof. Nawangwe urged the university to maintain the renovated hall to preserve its quality.

Eng. Brian Buhanda, representing Gen James Mugira, expressed gratitude to the Makerere University leadership for providing NEC with the opportunity to showcase its potential in the construction industry.

He was delighted to hand over the project within the stipulated timeframe of one year and acknowledged the technical team’s efforts.

He noted that NEC had gained valuable expertise from this project, which would be applied to future endeavors.

Specifically, he thanked the Vice Chancellor for his support and cooperation throughout the project.
