The Chief Political Commissar of the Uganda Peoples’ Defence Forces, Major General Henry Masiko, has led the UPDF inspectorate team to inspect the projects undertaken by the Engineers Brigade in the Northern sub-region of Uganda.

The projects under inspection include; the construction of a regional Immigration office in Gulu City, an oxygen plant at Gulu referral Hospital, ongoing construction works on Nambieso health Centre III and Aduku Health Centre IV in Kwania District, Nalubwoyo HC III Amolator district and will conclude in Nakasongola District with the inspection of Lwampanga Health Centre III and Moone Primary School.

Maj Gen Henry Masiko told journalists in Gulu City that it is a government approach to engage the UPDF in development projects and that as per the Constitution of Uganda, the UPDF is mandated to be a productive, self-sustaining institution working with the civilian authorities to accomplish need driven government development projects.

Maj Gen Masiko who was impressed by the ongoing works in Gulu City reminded the journalists that it was the directive of the President to the UPDF that the Engineers Brigade can do quality work and deliver value for money to the people of Uganda in time.

Similar projects are ongoing in other areas of the country such as Entebbe airport expansion works, renovations of Mandela National Stadium, Namboole and several health centres and educational institutions.
