Uganda Peoples’ Defence Forces (UPDF) on Monday morning discovered explosives in Nabweru along the road to Kazo in Wakiso district.
“Explosives found in Nabweru on the road to Kazo,” said Defence Spokesperson, Brig Gen Felix Kulayigye.
According to Kulayigye, these were to be used today in Kampala city “by those planning to paint it red”.
“The media should go and see for themselves,” he added.
At the start of this month, a counter-terror operation led by the Chieftaincy of Military Intelligence (CMI) in Buikwe district led to the arrest of three suspects linked to the ADF terror networks.
The suspects include; Sheikh Yasin Ssenyonga, Abubakari Katakuwange, Juma Kabogere Mwinomuze.
SCP Enanga Fred, Police Spokesperson, said Joint Security Agencies had intensified operations against any persons linked to acts of terrorism.
“We continue to monitor all spaces in homes, places of worship and businesses, which are acting as domains for the recruitment and coordination of terror activities,” he stated.
He added: “We also want to remind Ugandans to reject all forms of terrorism, by being extra vigilant and reporting any suspicious activities in their neighbourhoods. As the Joint Security Agencies, the counter-terror operations against terrorists, their agents, operatives and collaborators remain active and ongoing.”
