The Uganda Peoples’ Defence Force (UPDF) and Armed Forces of the Democratic Republic of the Congo (FARDC) have killed two Allied Democratic Forces (ADF) rebels and captured weapons as well as uniforms.
This, according to UPDF spokesperson Brig Gen Felix Kulayigye, was during an encounter on July 4 in the eastern part of the Democratic Republic of Congo.
On November 30, 2021, FARDC and the UPDF launched joint operations in the Beni territory of DR Congo against the ADF rebel outfit.
According to Kulayigye, there have been various victories and achievements towards the goals of Operation Shujaa.
He said that on Sunday, two enemies were put out of action and two guns, 28 ammunition, two walkie-talkies, one Generator, and one Solar Panel were recovered.
The forces also recovered an East African Passport in the name of Monde Kasimu Muhanda of Tanzania, a DRC National ID belonging to Yuma Malipeka Kibamba, a voice tracker with a memory card, three telephone sets, and one FARDC uniform.
Kulayigye said that in the operations, one UPDF soldier was killed. He condoled with the bereaved family.
He revealed that the ADF and ISCAP terrorists are still maintaining the concentration of their forces in the areas of; a) Irumu territory: Tokomeka 1,2&3 Idohu, Loya Luna, Mugulu-Mugulu, Maitatu, Ndimo, b) Mambasa territory areas of Biakato, Samboko Makwangu, Kartum Forest, c) Beni Territory areas of Mangina, Mamove and d) Rwenzori sector; Biangoro, Lusulube, Djerube e) Mwalika Isale Taliha Kabuwabuwa, River Lume-Semuliki Lume Confluence.
He reiterated the commitment of the UPDF to continue working alongside FARDC to flush the terrorists out of the region in order to bring lasting peace to the DRC and the region at large.
