Uganda Peoples Defense Air Force (UPDAF) has taken part in a charity run to help vulnerable children get safe drinking water. The run organized by Kids of Africa, a not-for-profit organization registered in Switzerland and Uganda was held on Sunday in Bwerega, Kawuku in Wakiso District.
The event themed ‘Run For Fun’ was the 7th edition and sought to raise Ush 100 million to drill 4 boreholes that will provide safe drinking water for local community in Bwerega.
The UPDF spokesperson Brig. Richard Karemire wrote in a post; “As part of social responsibility, UPDF today has participated in a 5Km, 10km and 21Km run organised by Kid’s Of Africa Swiss African Village Bwerega Kawuku Wakiso District.”
He added that; “UPDAF continues to participate and promote civil military relations within the community through cooperate activities, education, health sports and entertainment.”
Capt Arthur King Timbaganya, the Air Force publicist represented Brig. James Birungi, the Chief of Staff of the Air Force.
Participants ran in lots of; 5 km, 10 km and 21 km races, with courses set in Wakiso district, between Kampala and Entebbe on the shores of Lake Victoria.
The first three male and female finishers in each race and age category will receive medals and a cash prize.
Last year, the charity run raised approximately Ush 80 million that was used to finish a modern dental clinic at Kids of Africa.
