Sarah Aguti Nyangkori (Uganda People’s Congress (UPC) has been declared the winner of the Dokolo by-election.

Aguti got 23,044 votes in the by-election that was held on March 21, 2024

“As Returning Officer for Dokolo Electoral District and in accordance with Section 53 of the Parliamentary Elections Act, I declare AGUTI SARAH, who has obtained the largest number of votes, winner and District Woman Representative to Parliament, DOKOLO Electoral District,” said the Electoral Commission’s Returning Officer, Ngobi Erikwaine.

She was followed by Janet Rose Adongo Elau who garnered 14,001 votes. FDC’s candidate Austin Rosemary AlwocOgwal, who is also the daughter of the late Cecilia Ogwal, came in third with 8,168 votes. 

Six candidates were contesting for the seat which fell vacant following the untimely demise of former MP, Hon. Cecilia Atim Ogwal on January 18, 2024.
