Uganda National Roads Authority (UNRA) will conduct a massive exercise to remove encroachers operating from all road reserves, road shoulders and road junctions across the country.
The exercise will commence on September 1, 2022.
According to the Authority, the exercise comes after a sustained period of engagements with the affected persons in order to encourage voluntary compliance.
However, UNRA says while some of the encroachers have voluntarily vacated, others still remain operating from the road reserve.
Allan Sempebwa, the UNRA Spokesperson, says the exercise will, therefore, target the non-compliant persons.
He said upon commencement, the exercise will continue until when all the road reserves have been cleared.
He noted that there will be no form of compensation to the encroachers regardless of the nature of business or structures.
