Gulu – Unilever, a global leader in fast-moving consumer goods, has introduced a new packaging innovation for its popular seasoning brand—the Royco String Pack—in a move designed to meet growing consumer demand for convenience and accessibility.

Royco has long been cherished in Ugandan kitchens, known for enhancing the flavour of local dishes. The new Royco String Pack, locally dubbed #KaCubeKuString, marks a fresh chapter in the brand’s evolution. It maintains the same bold flavour and trusted nutritional value while offering improved usability and affordability.

The new format features 12 cubes neatly strung together, allowing for easier storage and usage. Each string pack will retail at just UGX 100, keeping it within reach of everyday consumers.

Speaking at the launch event held in Gulu City, Luck Ochieng, Unilever East Africa’s General Manager, highlighted the significance of the new format.

“We’re proud to introduce the Royco String Pack—#KaCubeKuString! Each cube is loaded with essential nutrients like iron, supporting healthy blood and energy levels,” Ochieng said.

“With natural herbs and spices including coriander, garlic, cumin, turmeric, and paprika, Royco doesn’t just boost flavour—it supports overall well-being. This innovation reflects our continued commitment to quality, nutrition, and honouring the traditions that bring families together.”

Grace Nandawula, Marketing Manager for Unilever Uganda, echoed the same sentiment, noting that the redesign was driven directly by customer feedback.

“Our consumers asked for more convenience, and we listened,” she said. “The Royco String Pack is easier to pull, tear, and crumble—no more struggling with single-cube packaging. This is all part of our mission to keep improving and ensuring Royco stays a trusted staple in Ugandan homes.”

While the packaging has changed, the formulation remains the same, enriched with vital nutrients like iron and iodine, making it a smart choice for family meals. Unilever also reaffirmed its commitment to strict quality standards, ensuring each cube continues to deliver consistent flavour and nutritional benefits.

The Royco String Pack will be available in retail outlets across Uganda starting March 21, 2025.
