The Minister of Education and Sports, Janet Kataha Museveni, and Uganda National Examinations Board (UNEB) could release the results for the 2020 Primary Leaving Examinations (PLE) this week.
UNEB had initially scheduled to release the results before the end of June this year but postponed it to an unknown later date due to restrictions of Covid-19.
But on Monday, Alex Kakooza, the Permanent Secretary of the Education Ministry, posted on Twitter that the examinations body will brief the Minister on the results on Wednesday July 14, 2021 at Statehouse Nakasero.
Normally, before results of national exams are released, UNEB has to brief the Minister of Education on how candidates have performed before the official release.
After Wednesday’s brief to the Minister, Kakooza says, communication of the date for the official release will be made.
A total of 749,811 learners registered for 2020 PLE which were sat from March 30 to 31 this year, for the first time amid the COVID19 pandemic.
UNEB said in March that despite the effects of the infection on both the schools and the learners, the board will not compromise on any processes and quality of the exams.
