Ugandan chef, Dorcus Bashema Kirabo also known as Mama D, has set a new Guinness World Record for the longest individual cooking marathon.
To complete an impressive 120 hours, Mama D has been cooking non-stop since December 23.
This record was previously held by Alan Fisher (Ireland), an owner and chef of a restaurant in Japan, who broke two cooking-related Guinness World Records titles.
First up, he claimed the longest cooking marathon (individual) after clocking in a time of 119 hours 57 minutes. That is more than 24 hours longer than the previous record held by Nigerian chef Hilda Baci.
Alan then claimed the longest baking marathon (individual), with a time of 47 hours 21 minutes. The previous record holder was Wendy Sandner (USA) with a time of 31 hours 16 minutes.
After cooking for over 100 hours, Uganda’s Mama D joins the league of world record holders.
Inspired by Nigerian chef Hilda Baci, Mama D broke the cooking record at Zoe’s Cakes ‘n’ Bites in Kira, Wakiso district.
Her record will have to first be ratified by the Guinness World Records to be official.
Yet, she intends to stretch it by cooking to December 31, 2023. She aims to motivate and inspire the girlchild.
