The Uganda Wildlife Marathon a flagship conservation and wellness event organised by the Uganda Wildlife Authority (UWA) as part of the annual World Wildlife Day celebrations is set for March 1, at Kitante Primary School, Kampala.

More than a race, the marathon serves as a national call to action that brings together elite athletes, recreational runners, cause-driven supporters, institutions, conservation partners, and the wider public to honour Uganda’s wildlife heritage and support those who protect it.

For the 2026 edition, the marathon is dedicated to supporting children of fallen wildlife rangers men and women who lost their lives while protecting Uganda’s wildlife and natural resources.

The event recognises their sacrifice and mobilises the nation to stand with their families, ensuring that the children left behind receive education, care, and hope for a better future.

Through sport, community participation, and shared purpose, the marathon raises awareness about wildlife conservation, promotes healthy living, strengthens public ownership of natural resources, and mobilises resources to support both conservation programmes and the welfare of children of fallen rangers.

Resources mobilised through registration fees, sponsorships, and partnerships will contribute to education support, welfare, and other essential needs, helping secure a dignified and hopeful future for these children.

Running kits go for:

Adults: 50,000 shillings – Gold | 30,000 – Bronze, Kids: 30,000 shillings.

Corporate sponsorship; Gold: 10 million, Silver: 5 million, Bronze: 3 million.

Secondary Schools: 900,000 shillings, Primary Schools: 700,000 shillings. The kits are being sold at UWEC–Entebbe Zoo, UWA Headquarters–Kamwokya, Sheraton Kampala, UTB Offices–Lugogo, and Wildlife Clubs Offices at UMA Show Grounds, Nakawa.
