The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uganda, Hon. Gen. Odongo Jeje Abubakhar, held a meeting with H.E. Anh Tuan, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, accompanied by H.E. Vu Than Huyen, Ambassador-designate of Vietnam to Uganda.
During the meeting, Ambassador Huyen presented copies of her Letters of Credence to the Minister.
Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening bilateral relations, recalling the historic State Visit of H.E. the President of Uganda to Vietnam in November 2022. Discussions centred on boosting cooperation in trade, investment, agriculture, and multilateral diplomacy.
Vietnam invited Uganda to join the upcoming signing of the UN “Hanoi Convention” on cybercrime and requested Uganda’s support for its candidacy in international forums. Uganda, in turn, welcomed Vietnam’s proposals for joint ventures and pending agreements, especially in agriculture and fisheries.
Hon. Odongo emphasized Uganda’s dedication to advancing shared values through platforms such as the Non-Aligned Movement. Both parties agreed to maintain close diplomatic engagement to follow up on the agreed areas of cooperation.
