On September 9, 2025, Uganda’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Hon. General Odongo Jeje Abubakhar, received Her Excellency Fatima Fernandes Juarez, Ambassador of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Kampala.
Hon. Odongo warmly welcomed Ambassador Juarez and her delegation, commending the cordial and growing ties between Uganda and Venezuela. The Ambassador, who arrived earlier this year, expressed gratitude for the hospitality she has continued to enjoy in Uganda, remarking that the country truly feels like home.
Ambassador Juarez delivered an official invitation from Venezuela’s Minister of Popular Power for Foreign Affairs, H.E. Yván Gil, inviting Hon. Odongo to speak at the upcoming International Forum on “Colonialism, Neocolonialism and Their Consequences,” set for October 2–3, 2025, in Caracas. The Forum will focus on the theme “For Truth and Historical Justice!”
She further proposed establishing a Uganda–Venezuela Joint Permanent Commission (JPC), with discussions planned for March 2025.
