Pearl Liquors Uganda Ltd. is preparing to shake up the Ugandan and, by extension, the African spirits market with a bold new lineup of premium international liquor brands, beginning with alkaline vodka and exclusive tequilas.
According to the company founder and CEO, Stuart Raymond Kasule, the aim is not merely to sell drinks, but to deliver a complete lifestyle experience.
“Most liquor stores don’t prioritise a pleasing aesthetic; the focus is simply on selling drinks,” Kasule said. “We wanted to sell more than drinks; we wanted to sell an experience.”
Pearl Liquors has secured exclusive distribution and importation rights directly from producers in Australia and Mexico, with Uganda serving as the African launchpad for four core product lines.
Offshore Alkaline Vodka — marketed as “the world’s only premium alkaline vodka,” produced in Australia. The vodka is distilled five times from wheat grain and blended with high-pH alkaline water, yielding a smoother, cleaner finish that appeals to wellness-conscious drinkers.
Ley 925 Tequila — a luxury Mexican tequila brand famed for having once issued a record-setting US$3.5 million tequila decanter. In Uganda, regular bottles are expected to retail between UGX 400,000 and UGX 500,000.
Additional high-end tequila/distribution lines: Lamborghini Tequila and Casino Azul — Pearl Liquors claims exclusive distribution rights for Uganda.
A ready-to-drink cocktail line: Vodka Cruisers, produced by Asahi Beverages. Rebranded locally as “Cocktails On The Go,” it will launch on December 13, 2025 — initially in lemon-lime, pineapple, raspberry, and blueberry flavours.
He underscored that quality and regulatory compliance are central to the product rollout.
“Every import batch will undergo rigorous testing by Uganda National Bureau of Standards (UNBS), as well as certification from international labs including Australia’s Infinity Labs to verify ethanol content, purity, flavour profiles, and safety standards.”
