Uganda’s High Commission in Ottawa has joined Canada’s national economic tour, demonstrating Uganda’s commitment to cross-continental collaboration and economic development.

Deputy Head of Mission Ambassador Allan Kajik emphasized the significance of this partnership, stating, “This involvement marks a turning point for Uganda’s diplomatic relations, showcasing our ambition to foster international partnerships that drive technological transfer, trade, and investment.”

Through dialogue with government officials, Canadian entrepreneurs, and provincial leaders, Uganda is redefining its foreign relations strategy to prioritize knowledge sharing and economic empowerment.

Ambassador Kajik highlighted the benefits of partnering with Canadian institutions, saying, “Uganda will gain advanced skills in sectors like agri-business, education, and technology, positioning us as a rising player in the global community.”

A notable outcome of the tour was Ambassador Kajik’s meeting with Carolyn Wakeham, CEO of Newfoundland and Labrador’s organization of women entrepreneurs.

This discussion yielded a concrete plan to empower Uganda’s rural women with skills, resources, and opportunities for entrepreneurial success, contributing to the national goal of reducing poverty and advancing gender equity.
