The Uganda Marketers Society (UMS) has announced the renewal of its partnership with The Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM), the world’s leading professional marketing body based in the United Kingdom (UK).
This renewed collaboration aims to enhance marketing standards, education, and professional growth for marketers in Uganda and the United Kingdom.
“This partnership reaffirms our commitment to advancing the marketing profession, ensuring that Ugandan marketers have access to global opportunities, resources, and networks,” said Charity Winnie Kamusiime Asiimwe, President of UMS. “Together, we will continue to build professional capacity and create a stronger marketing industry.”
The renewed partnership will focus on several key areas, including the development of structured pathways for marketing professionals to obtain dual memberships in both organizations. It will also emphasise content-sharing, research collaborations, and event support to promote unity and knowledge exchange within the marketing community.
“This collaboration enables us to align marketing capabilities and accreditation with global standards,” said Maureen Wincott, Head of Learning Partnerships at CIM. “We are excited to work alongside UMS to support the professional growth of marketers and strengthen the industry both locally and internationally.”

The Future of Marketing in Uganda
The renewed partnership between UMS and CIM is expected to transform the marketing landscape in Uganda by providing marketers with globally recognized standards and best practices.

“Our goal is to equip Ugandan marketers with world-class skills and knowledge, positioning them as global industry leaders,” said James Delves, Head of PR and External Affairs at CIM.
According to Delves, through this partnership, UMS will continue to recognise CIM’s Global Professional Marketing Framework (GPMF) and encourage its members to engage with the platform. Additionally, both organisations will collaborate on research initiatives that will shape the future of marketing.
“With this renewed commitment, we look forward to empowering marketers with professional development opportunities that align with international best practices,” Asiimwe stated. “Together, we can elevate the marketing profession and drive economic transformation in Uganda.”
The renewed UMS-CIM partnership marks a significant step in professionalising the marketing industry in Uganda. By fostering global connections, sharing valuable research, and promoting skill development, this collaboration promises to position Ugandan marketers at the forefront of the industry.
