The Uganda Embassy in Berlin, in partnership with Ugandan coffee farmers Sera Wild Coffee and Mimea Coffee, hosted a focused coffee cupping event in Hamburg to promote Uganda’s high-quality Arabica and Robusta coffees to the German market.

The event brought together Embassy Staff led by Ambassador Danny Ssozi,  Deputy Ambassador and Jessica Namuddu, Head of tourism desk, Milly Nanfuma, (Sera Wild Coffee).

Joshua Luyonza (Mimea Coffee Uganda), German coffee importers, roasters, traders, and industry professionals, who had the opportunity to taste a variety of specialty Ugandan coffees and engage directly with producers.

Alexander Brabandt, a Coffee Analyst at the Port in Hamburg began the session by presenting the analysis of the Ugandan coffee that enters Germany through Hamburg.

He shared the metrics used to qualify coffee to enter Germany and emphasized that for Ugandan coffee to excel on the Germany market, high quality standards should be maintained by the farmers which will lead to the increase of coffee volumes.

The cupping showcased Uganda’s unique flavor profiles, improved quality standards, and growing potential in the global specialty coffee segment from thirteen ugandan coffee farmers.

Ambassador Ssozi, emphasized the Embassy’s commitment to creating market linkages and supporting farmers through value-addition and export promotion. Participants expressed strong interest in deepening trade connections and exploring sourcing opportunities from Uganda.

The Embassy plans to continue organizing targeted promotional events to increase Uganda’s visibility within Europe’s coffee industry.
