Gabrone, Botswana ― Part of the Uganda Cranes contingent departed Entebbe International Airport on Sunday morning, heading to Botswana for the penultimate 2026 FIFA World Cup Qualifier against the Zebras. The group, which left at 2:45 a.m., included all locally based players and Jude Ssemugabi of Jamus FC in South Sudan.
The team safely arrived in Gabrone, the capital of Botswana and is accommodated at Avani Resort Hotel.
The remaining foreign-based players will link directly with the team in Botswana. FUFA Executive Committee Member Ronnie Kalema is serving as the Leader of Delegation.
Uganda will face Botswana on Thursday, 9 October 2025, at Francistown Stadium, before wrapping up their qualification campaign away to Algeria on 14 October 2025. The Cranes currently sit second in Group G with 15 points, four behind leaders Algeria. The group also includes Guinea, Somalia, Mozambique, and Botswana.
