This means that Uganda have collected the maximum 6 points from Rwanda. The two sides are in Group E alongside Mali and Kenya.

Mali has on the other side triumphed past hosts Kenya also with a slim 1-0 win in Nairobi. Mali has thus extended their summit on Group E with 10 points followed by Uganda with 8 points. Kenya remains in the second position with two points while Rwanda sits bottom with only a point.

Two matches are remaining and only the group leader will sail into the World Cup in Qatar.

Uganda will now host Kenya on November 11 for the return leg. The two sides managed on a barren draw in the first leg. On the same date, Mali who beat Rwanda 1-0 in the first leg will also face-off.

Uganda will thereafter travel to Mali for the final game and Kenya also host Rwanda.
