Entebbe — Kiira Motors Corporation has delivered two additional 13-metre Kayoola Electric Coaches to the Civil Aviation Authority, expanding the national electric bus fleet to five units as Uganda accelerates its transition to clean mobility.

The company announced that the latest delivery strengthens the performance record of its electric transport technology, noting that the fleet has now covered more than 13,000 kilometres, including long-distance trials from Uganda to South Africa.

“The fleet is now at five buses. 13,000km. Uganda to South Africa. Proven performance. The King of the African Highway. Built in Uganda. Ready for Africa and beyond,” Kiira Motors stated in a public update.

The Kayoola Electric Coach is part of Uganda’s growing e-mobility programme aimed at promoting locally manufactured, zero-emission public transport solutions.

The latest delivery follows earlier milestones showcased at the National E-Mobility Expo 2025 in September, where Kiira Motors handed over two fully electric 13-metre premium buses to the Uganda Civil Aviation Authority.

During the event, Minister for Science, Technology and Innovation Monica Musenero praised the buses as a breakthrough in local innovation, describing them as affordable, technologically advanced, and capable of transforming Uganda’s public transport sector.

Kiira Motors said the expansion of the Kayoola fleet demonstrates growing confidence in Uganda’s home-grown automotive engineering capacity and its readiness for wider regional deployment.

The company also indicated that the electric buses are designed for long-distance, high-capacity transport, positioning them as a potential solution for intercity and cross-border mobility across Africa.
