The agreement, which took effect on August 25, 2024, will seamlessly connect the networks of both carriers, offering passengers unparalleled travel options between Africa, the Indian subcontinent, and beyond.

Under this strategic partnership, Uganda Airlines passengers can now book a single ticket for seamless travel from Entebbe International Airport (EBB) to more than 25 destinations across India and key international hubs through Air India’s major gateway in Mumbai (BOM).

The agreement significantly expands Uganda Airlines’ global reach, allowing passengers to connect onward to major Indian cities such as Ahmedabad, Amritsar, Bengaluru, Chennai, Delhi, Goa, Hyderabad, Kochi, Kolkata, Lucknow, Varanasi, and more. International connections will also be available to destinations including Bangkok, Colombo, Dhaka, London Heathrow, and Singapore.

Conversely, Air India passengers across India and Asia will now have convenient access to Uganda through flights to Entebbe, with onward connections available to South Africa, Nigeria, Tanzania, Zimbabwe, Zambia, and other African destinations on Uganda Airlines’ growing network.

“We are excited to launch this partnership with Air India, an iconic brand in global aviation,” Uganda Airlines said in a statement. “This interline agreement is a significant step in our strategy to connect Uganda to Africa and beyond. It provides our customers with a smooth, single-ticket travel experience to dozens of new destinations, strengthening economic and cultural ties between our regions.”

Nipun Aggarwal, Chief Commercial Officer at Air India, welcomed the partnership, saying: “We are happy to partner with Uganda Airlines, enhancing connectivity between India and Africa. This partnership not only provides our customers with seamless access to Uganda and an extended network across Africa but also warmly welcomes Uganda Airlines’ passengers to explore Air India’s extensive routes within India and beyond, fostering stronger economic and cultural ties between our regions.”
