The Uganda Bureau of Statistics (UBOS) has extended the application deadline for the Enumerator and Census Enumerator Supervisor positions to March 22, 2024.

“Following the recently advertised jobs for the Uganda Census 2024 Enumerator and Enumeration Supervisor positions, Management wishes to inform the general public that UBOS has extended the expiry date of receiving applications to the 22nd day of March 2024,” reads a short social media statement.

The Bureau is hiring 18,483 Census Supervisors and 114,460 Census Enumerators. Only online applications are accepted.

According to the bureau’s website, the first deadline was March 15, 2024, at 5 p.m.

“We assessed and decided to extend it to give a chance to many people,” said UBOS Executive Director, Dr Chris Mukiza, while launching the household mapping activities in Mukono District on Tuesday.

“Ensure you have a phone number registered in your name and necessary documents. Otherwise, you will not be paid even if you present documents explaining why your number is registered in another person’s name,” he said.

Speaking on the same occasion, Hellen Namirembe Nviiri, the Director of Population and Social Statistics at UBOS, said the enumerators will be taken through vigorous training to ensure they are able to carry out the exercise effectively.

“We shall have a training of the trainers within the Bureau and the starting date is this month,” she noted.

She said data collection begins on May 10 and enumerators will be given two days to be conversant with the boundaries or areas of operation.

“So, the training will end on a Tuesday and they will have a Wednesday and a Thursday to go back. Then on Friday, they start. So, they will start training on April 29 and end on May 7.”

She said that the sub-county supervisors’ training will begin on April 15 and end on April 23.

“We will give them time to go and prepare all the logistics because the training will take place at the district headquarters.”

As of today, only 56 days are left until Uganda’s National Census Day, 10th May 2024.

“Make sure to participate in this crucial day for our nation. Let’s do this together; it matters to be counted,” said the Bureau.
