Uganda Breweries Limited (UBL) has commissioned a Sh190 million solar-powered mini-water scheme and hand pump in Kibasi Town Council, Kabarole District.

The project, which serves 1,100 people, was handed over to the community in a ceremony presided over by Victoria Rusoke, State Minister for Local Government.

Rusoke commended UBL for the donation, noting that the water project aligns with the Government’s National Development Plan (NDP) III. She emphasized the importance of corporate entities playing a positive role in communities.

Anthony Alozie, UBL Supply Chain Director, stated that providing water to water-stressed communities is crucial to their sustainability strategy.

“The project addresses the area’s long-standing water challenges, which forced communities to rely on unclean water sources. The mini-water scheme and hand pump will positively impact the community’s health and well-being,” Rusoke said.

UBL has delivered various water projects in different regions, including: 19 boreholes and an ablution block in water-stressed communities last year, A UGX 335 million piped water supply system in Buwali sub-county, Bududa district.

37 boreholes in the Acholi sub-region, A UGX 1 billion water and sanitation project in Bulangira, Kibuku District

Alozie noted that the initiatives have demonstrated UBL’s commitment to improving access to clean water and sanitation in Uganda.
