The Government of Uganda, through its Embassy in Washington, D.C. and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, has launched an eight-day tourism expedition aimed at promoting Uganda’s unique and diverse attractions to a select group of American luxury tour operators.

The delegation of six high-profile tour operators, whose clientele includes affluent travellers and billionaires from across the United States, arrived in Uganda on June 19, 2025. Their visit marks a strategic effort to position Uganda as a premier destination for luxury tourism.

To officially welcome the group, Uganda’s Ambassador to the United States, H.E. Robie Kakonge, hosted a dinner at Latitude Hotel in Kampala.

The event was attended by several dignitaries, including Ms. Diana Museveni, the First Daughter; officials from the Ministry of Tourism; the Uganda Tourism Board; and key players in the private tourism sector, including Mr. Amos Wekesa.

Following their arrival, the group embarked on a journey to explore some of Uganda’s most iconic natural wonders. Their first destination was Kibale National Park, renowned for its chimpanzee tracking experiences.

At Primate Lodge Kibale, the group was warmly welcomed by the lodge’s management team. After a well-deserved rest and a hearty lunch, the visitors were captivated by the playful black-and-white colobus monkeys that dotted the landscape, setting an exciting tone for the days ahead.

Later that day, the tour operators visited Ndali Lodge, one of Uganda’s most scenic and historic luxury accommodations. They were received by the lodge’s CEO, Mr. Obrey Price, a British investor who has dedicated nearly three decades to developing Uganda’s tourism sector.

Price personally guided the group through the lodge, sharing insights into its history since opening in 1996 and highlighting its commitment to sustainability and community engagement.

The tour will continue through Queen Elizabeth National Park and the Bwindi Impenetrable Forest—home to nearly half of the world’s remaining mountain gorillas. Throughout the expedition, the visitors will experience Uganda’s rich biodiversity, warm hospitality, and high-end tourism infrastructure.

The initiative is part of Uganda’s broader strategy to attract high-value tourism and expand its presence in the global luxury travel market. With the support of both government and private sector stakeholders, the campaign is expected to generate increased interest and investment in Uganda’s tourism offerings.
