Two fishermen have been arrested for allegedly killing their colleague.  The suspects are Patrick Balitwaha and John Byaruhanga both fishermen attached to Kijangi landing site in Mbegu parish, Kabaale sub-county in Hoima district.

It is alleged that the suspects while on Lake Albert attacked and stabbed to death Samuel Warom 20, a fisherman attached to Mbegu landing site.

After stabbing him, they dumped his body in the lake. The incident happened at around 10 p.m near Mbegu landing site. The motive for attacking and killing the deceased is not yet known.

Suleiman Waaku, the Mbegu landing site LCI Chairperson says that before Warom died, he sounded an alarm that attracted the attention of other fishermen who were also on the lake.

Waaku says that as they rushed to rescue him, they found he had already been killed and his body dumped in the lake.

Julius Hakiza, the Albertine region police spokesperson says that the police is searching for two other two suspects.

Warom’s body was on Saturday evening retrieved from the lake by fellow fishermen.

Last week, suspected Congolese Militiamen raided the lake Albert waters and shot three Ugandan fishermen.  The incident happened near Senjojo landing site in Buhuka parish Kyangwali Sub County in Kikuube district. URN
