Organised by the Uganda Communications Commission (UCC), “The Uganda Film Festival” initiative was established in 2013 to promote the local film industry both locally and internationally, and to bring all the industry stakeholders together in a more focused and structured environment.

This is aimed at creating a lucrative industry economically and socially to preserve national values through film just like many countries Nigeria and the USA.

It also aims at enabling Uganda film industry players to get opportunities to gain exposure by facilitating visits to other international festivals and scholarships to international and local short courses on film.

It also seeks to financially support film initiatives of high-potential film/Video industry players through the provision of film grants and promote in general the Uganda creative industry by giving opportunities to local musicians and other members of the creative industry in Uganda to support the film industry through performances during festivals.
