The Programs Manager of the Bwaise based Top Media, Steven Dunstan Busuulwa has joined Buganda kingdom owned BBS Television, to replace veteran journalist, Peter Kibazo in moderating the station’s political talk show dubbed ‘Amaaso Ku Ggwanga’.

Known for his calmness and professional touch in handling political shows, Busuulwa succeeded the late Africa Buyondo Ddamulira in 2014 as a host for the popular ‘Negwozadde’ program hosting top politicians including the Presidential Advisor on Media, Tamale Mirundi every Monday evening.

His move has ignited a lot of debate from a number of Top Radio’s listeners, some saying that the recently leaked internal memo allegedly from top management barring presenters from hosting opposition politicians could have sparked off the move.

However, Busuulwa who exclusively talked to softpower news neither opposed nor accepted resigning from the station he has served for more than a decade, but promised to formally communicate on the fate of his stay at the station soon.

“Will respond formally on Friday or early next week. Though i didn’t seek a job. They [BBS television] sought for me”, Busuulwa said.

Busuulwa has worked at BBS television since last week.

A source from the station who preferred anonymity intimated to this website that of recent, the media owner directed all his media outlets to air the Church’s P5 prayers every evening to late in the night interfering with the normal programing and utilising all the time for political talk shows.

“As long as these prayers continue occupying most of the airtime, you will see many of us quitting for greener pastures. We can’t equally cope with this highly competitive Ugandan media. We are literally unemployed,” the source said.

Top media which umbrellas Top Radio, Top TV and FM J is an extension of Christian Life Church owned by city Pastor, Jackson Ssenyonga, has had a massive exodus of a number of employees in the recent past including Balamaze Daudi and Dr Kwefulukuta now at CBS radio.

Former Top Radio Manager, Steven Busuulwa (L) hosts Police Spokesperson, Emilian Kayima on BBS Television.
