Uganda is set to witness the second edition of the fish festival where top city restaurants and hotels will showcase their best fish dishes.
According to organisers, the event will take place on May 5 at the Uganda Museum and different fish types such as Tilapia, the Nile Perch and Mudfish will be on display for purchase in both ready to eat and raw forms.
During an interview with SoftPower News, Betty Aliba, the event organiser said that the festival will facilitate a networking for players in the fish chain.
“Revelers will have an opportunity to network with the entire fish supply chain, from fishermen, farmers, investors to researchers, and to allow them deliberate on every one’s role in ensuring sustainable supply,” Ms Aliba said.
She further called upon all fish lovers and well wishers to be part of the great experience citing Uganda as one of the most blessed destinations in the world with great water bodies that nurture a great number of fish species.
Some of the leading eat outs that will take part in the festival include Go Fish, Cassava Republic among others whose experienced chefs will prepare fish in different forms say fillet, fish balls, fish pizza, grilled, smoked, ‘ekikalayi’ among other forms including Chinese approach to fish preparation.
Go Fish will offer an opportunity to the fans to pick live fish of their choice and prepare it in the desired form.
Adults shall pay a fee of Shs 10,000 with children entering at Shs 5,000 each.
Last year’s event which was the first of its kind, was held at Entebbe Zoo beach and saw hundreds of hoteliers link up with different clients and fans exposed to the unique fish dishes.
