Chemutai, the reigning Olympic champion, won her heat in commanding fashion with a time of 9:07.68, booking her spot in the finals scheduled for Wednesday. Her victory has raised Uganda’s hopes for a podium finish in one of the most competitive events of the championship.

In the men’s events, Uganda also put up a spirited display. In the 10,000m finals, Dan Kibet finished 13th in a time of 29:03.22, while Oscar Chelimo placed 18th with 29:26.66, ensuring Uganda remained well represented among the world’s elite runners.

The men’s marathon brought mixed fortunes for Team Uganda. Abel Chelangat delivered a superb run to finish 5th with an impressive 2:10:11, while Victor Kiplangat came in 15th at 2:11:33. Unfortunately, Stephen Kissa and Solomon Mutai did not finish the race.

Despite the challenges, Uganda’s athletes have showcased determination and resilience, keeping the country’s flag flying high on the global stage. All eyes are now on Peruth Chemutai as she gears up for the women’s 3000m steeplechase finals, where she will be aiming to bring home another medal for Uganda.
