The Public Relations Association of Uganda (PRAU) today officially launched the 4th edition of the National Public Relations Symposium at the Uganda Red Cross Society offices.

This year’s symposium is scheduled for 25th July 2025 at the Imperial Royale Hotel, Kampala, under the theme: “From Strategy to the C-Suite: Elevating PR to the Boardroom.” The Rt. Hon. Speaker of Parliament of Uganda will grace the event as the Guest of Honour.

The annual symposium brings together a wide spectrum of communication professionals — including PR and corporate communications practitioners, CEOs, board members, government communicators, brand executives, and young professionals — to champion the growing role of Public Relations in Uganda’s leadership and governance spaces.

Speaking at the press conference, PRAU President Irene Nakasiita underscored the need to rethink the place of PR in organisational leadership.

“The 4th National Public Relations Symposium 2025 is a call for communication professionals and leaders to reimagine PR not merely as a support function, but as a core pillar of corporate strategy, governance, and public accountability,” Nakasiita emphasised.

She further noted that this year’s event would host a high-calibre lineup of speakers and panellists who will share insights on navigating the boardroom and senior leadership spaces.

“This year’s symposium will feature an inspiring lineup of keynote speakers and dynamic panel discussions, designed to elevate communication practitioners’ professional stature and prepare them for influential roles in the boardroom,” Nakasiita said.

As Uganda’s organisations grapple with evolving challenges — from digital transformation and sustainability, to ESG compliance and stakeholder activism — PRAU highlighted that the role of strategic communication is more vital than ever. Increasingly, organisations recognise that communication leaders must have a seat at the decision-making table to shape culture, manage reputation, drive transformation, and engage stakeholders effectively.

Key Objectives of the 2025 Symposium: Advocate for the inclusion of PR and communications professionals in boardrooms, C-suites, and senior executive roles; Demonstrate the pivotal role of strategic communication in business continuity, public trust, and national development; Equip PR practitioners with the leadership tools to navigate governance and secure senior leadership positions; Showcase Ugandan success stories of communicators who have risen to CEO, board, or executive roles and Foster mentorship and networking opportunities, especially for students and early-career professionals.

Registration Fees: PRAU Members will pay UGX 200,000, Non-Members: UGX 250,000, Students: UGX 70,000 and Corporate Table (10 seats): UGX 5,000,000.

PRAU also extended appreciation to its partners supporting this year’s symposium, including: Newmans, Vision Group, Qvibes, Affinity, Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA), Uganda Broadcasting Corporation (UBC TV), Capital FM, Galaxy FM, NRG Radio, SoftPower News, CEO Magazine, PML Daily, and Iverse.
