The visit followed the Uganda Royal Workshop 2025, a two-day event held at Kabaleega Resort Hotel that brought together representatives from over 16 cultural institutions, including kings, queens, rwots, and prime ministers. The workshop, organised in partnership with the Family Peace Association, concluded on the evening of September 24th.

During the visit, the monarchs checked on the Omukama, sought his blessings, and expressed solidarity with him.

They were warmly received by the Bunyoro-Kitara Kingdom Prime Minister, Owek. Andrew Byakutaga Ateenyi, who welcomed the delegation and shared the Kingdom’s rich history—from the Batembuzi and Bachwezi dynasties to the Babiito lineage—and explained how many of Uganda’s current kingdoms and chiefdoms trace their origins to the great Bunyoro-Kitara Empire.

The Prime Minister also briefed the visiting leaders on the Kingdom’s ongoing programs aimed at improving livelihoods, promoting culture, tourism, and fostering community development, while highlighting potential areas for partnership.

Later, HRM Omukama Dr Solomon Gafabusa Iguru I personally met the kings and rwots, each of whom extended warm greetings from their respective kingdoms, conveyed best wishes to the Royal Family, and collectively prayed for the Omukama’s quick recovery.

The monarchs present included: HRH Drani Stephen Izakare – King of Madi, HRH Mpagi Baker – King of Bunyala, HRH Odongo Okune Mike Moses – King of Lango, HRH Mudoma Jude Mike – King of Bamasaaba, HRH Asiimwe Ntare – King of Ankole, HRH Isabaruli Mwogezi – King of Buruli, HRH Agenda Mike – King of Lugbara, HRH Mugisha Elisha Atenyi – King of Banyabindi, and HRH Onen David Acana – King of Acholi.
