Luzinda Cylus Sale, a suspect in a case which is under hearing in the Anti Corruption Court Kololo Kampala, on Monday entered Court with a loaded gun and threatened to shoot the witnesses, police say.
According to one of the witnesses who was in court for the hearing on a matter in which Luzinda was the accused, the suspect managed to gain access to the witnesses in the matter he is accused of receiving stolen property and started threatening of causing harm to them.
But the witness rushed out of court and informed the police which came in and disamerd him, according to ASP Luke Owoyesigire, the Kampala metropolitan deputy police spokesperson.
Owoyesigire says entering Court when armed is against security protocols in all courts of the land, revealing that the gun has since be recovered and found to have several sounds of ammunition.
“The recovered gun is a star pistol and contained 13 rounds of ammunition and has since been exhibited,” says Owoyesigire.
“The task team at Jinja Road Police Station will further establish whether the the suspect had an operation license for the firearm or not,” he adds.
The police spokesperson notes that the gun will be forwarded for further forensic analysis to as well establish whether it was fingerprinted during the ongoing exercise of fingerprinting firearms and whether it has ever been used in any crime.
Meanwhile, another offence of threatening violence and attempted murder has been opened against him.
Police have also taken action against the court orderlies, who were supposed to ensure that every person is thoroughly searched for failure to carry out their duties.
Court has also cancelled the bail of Luzinda and us now awaits to be remanded to Kitalya Prisons.
