State House has distanced itself from forged letters being used by fraudsters in land-grabbing schemes.
The letters were allegedly ‘signed’ by the Principal Private Secretary to H.E. the President, Dr Kenneth Omona, on November 9, 2022, and the Senior Presidential Advisor to H.E. the President, Lt. Gen. (Rtd) Proscovia Nalweyiso, on September 27, 2021.
In a Tuesday, November 15 statement, the State House Press Unit said the letters are being used to grab or distribute forest land in Mayuge District.
State House noted that the Senior State House staff is not involved in land matters in any way and they have never issued such letters.
“We would like to inform the public that the above Senior State House Staff are not involved in land matters in any way and they have never issued such letters,” reads the statement.
It advised the public to always contact their Resident District and City Commissioners who will be required to verify their authenticity with the State House in case anyone comes in possession of such letters.
“Nonetheless, it should be stated that whoever is in custody of these letters and acquired land must know that they were cheated of their money and should open cases against these thieves.”
The State House asked anyone with information about the authors of the letters to inform the police or better still contact the State House Administration.
